Had a great day as usual! I got hold of the Ceramics 1 curriculum map so I can begin writing up with project ideas and planning a unit on wheel throwing for Ms. O. I'm excited for that! I can't remember if I mentioned this in my last journal, but Ms. O, Ms. Osborne, and I are meeting up sometime this summer to learn glazing techniques from Ms. Osborne and test run some of the projects she usually does with Ceramics 1. Ms. Osborne is amazing. She comes with the most incredible projects for her ceramics classes. I'm looking forward to talking to her more and collaborating on project ideas.

Intro to 3D has one more week to finish their final paper relief projects where they recreate an image in relief which involves cutting and stacking multiple layers of paper. It's interesting because the class is split down the middle between total mastery and being completely confused by it. What I've noticed is that students who took the time to plan out the layers one on top of it, but students who skipped that step (even though it's part of their grade) were super confused. So I encouraged them to go back to the initial planning to clear the confusion and helped them visualize the order of the layers. It's important for them not to skip steps or else it makes the whole process unnecessarily stressful.

AP Drawing and Drawing 4 are getting on my nerves personally. They don't take Ms. O's deadlines seriously and sometimes condescending. Like today they were suppose to turn in revisions of their artists statements, but only one out 12 submitted it. I told Ms. O she needs to be tougher on them. She said she's giving them all zeros on that assignment so that's good. She extended her drawing 4's project another week because no one was finished. I find that hard to know when the students actually need a deadline extended or when they just need to put in more effort. I think this particular group of students needs more urgency in their work.

Jewelry 1 is on fire. They are making awesome resin pieces. One student took the project above and beyond. He created a fidget device. It's wicked.

S. came in during 6th period and Ms. O was busy so I asked S. if she wanted to work with clay today and she said yes! I taught her how to make coils and then taught her how to make ceramic beads. She loved it. I knew clay would be a great medium for her to work with because it's so malleable. We made 16 beads because she turns 16 tomorrow!

After school Ms. O and Ms. Osborne invited me to go out with them to grab a bite to eat and it was great to hang out with them :)
