Still Searching

I don't have a whole lot to report this week. I am still sending out emails and am currently in the processes of securing a date to visit Greenwood High School. It's mainly the emailing process that is slowing down the search for a mentor. I will keep sending them though. I mentioned a bit during connections that my mom gave up her contract with the color guard at Concord. This leaves open an opportunity for me to apply for the job. My mom is concerned that I'm narrowing down my options too much and that I shouldn't want to work and live in Elkhart forever, but honestly my ideal situation would be working at Concord so I can be close to family and work in a great school. For some reason that's too crazy for everyone to believe. And all I'm doing is exploring an opportunity, I'm flexible. In fact my whole college career I have been flexible. Starting in Chicago, moving back home to community college, coming to IU, changing my major, joining CoT... I've taken every opportunity that I felt would be of interest to me. But I do understand what she's saying. So I'm going to continue searching for a mentorship that's closer to Indy so I'm getting experience outside my home town and so I have half the drive home finished when I go to my mentorship in case I have the opportunity to work the Concord's color guard. Sorry if I seem obsessed with color guard. It's just a big part of how I realized I wanted to teach. Working with these high school students for the past three years has really solidified my passion to teach and lead. So it feels wrong if I don't look into the opportunity to get the position that developed my passion for teaching that is in my ideal location and school. Anyways, I will keep emailing away!
