This upcoming week I am in charge of the current event, so I am looking forward to that. I am excited that I have been able to incorporate visual culture in exploring activism. I think the responses and discussion are going to be interesting. I was cracking myself up though because when I was thinking about visual imagery in the video and article, the protestors were always holding up fists. So when I was writing up a question about analyzing symbols in the protest I called that symbol "the fist" which reminded me of a scene from The Office (my favorite series of all time), so I included it at the bottom of my discussion prompt.

I'm also feeling very confident, I just submitted my first portfolio expectation. I worked really hard to bring all the evidence together and synthesize the WHAT, SO WHAT, NOW WHAT, in my reflection. After completing this expectation I have reaffirmed that CoT is right up my alley, I'm really grateful I found out about it by chance last semester or else it would've been too late for me to hop on board before I apply for the TEP. I have also solidified an observation date with Carmel High School and am so close to setting a date to visit Center Grove. Bloomington High School South finally replied saying they don't have any availability for observation, which I found to be really weird, but whatever. Brown County High School has not replied even after a second email and Gretchen is sending my application to BHS North. I think Carmel and Center Grove would be my first picks though for a mentor because they're well established and invested in the arts, which is a big requirement for me when I begin looking for a teaching position. I don't want to struggle to make the arts respected in my school, I want to come in knowing I am wanted and respected by the school.
