Snorkel Excursion

Today went smoothly with my Year 8's. I introduced pop art and had them do a quick silk screen print just so they could see the process. As I have never taught Pop Art, I was nervous, but I think I did well. Leanne hopped in several times to add important information since she's taught it so many times. I also let her do the silk screen print demonstration. It was good to see how she organized printing for the full class. At the beginning of the day, Leanne noticed that they were doing the snorkel excursion to Julian Rocks and got me hooked up with the PE teachers to get me on board. I didn't want to impose, but Leanne made it happen! Just had to rush home to get my bathers.

The excursion was great! I had an awesome time getting to know some of the other teachers and students. I think since it was midday there wasn't a ton of wildlife out and about, but it was still a great trip! The students had a blast. They are so fortunate to have opportunities like this!

Unfortunately when I came back from the excursion, I was notified that Leanne had gone to the hospital and I needed to take her car to her. Apparently she started getting really bad chest pains during power walking and had a student walk her to the doctor's office before a teacher came and drove her to the hospital. We think that with all the traveling, stress concerning scheduling for next year, and jumping straight back into school after being gone so long was a tremendous amount of stress on her. Her heart is okay, just needs rest.
